| Venus Fly ChairOne of my first projects of mimicing nature in functional products. This chair has a reinforced steel piping structure inside. Wire mesh and plaster than form the body form, and fiberglass bondo covers the base. The two seat halves are carved from yellow Urethane foam, and then fiberglassed for reinforcement. The hinges in the the two halves are PVC tubing, and they are encased in the fiberglass as well. A coating is applied over the fiberglass, and then sanded for a smooth finish. The spikes on the ends of the halves are soft clay material that can bend.
